THOUGHT for the Week

Gratitude is the Driver of Most Successful Ventures

We’ve heard it said that gratitude is perhaps the highest human emotion. When we are truly grateful for all the good things in life – our perspective is more balanced and complete.

Gratitude is top of mind for us at sbaAccess this week as we prepare to host our 1st Annual Client Appreciation Summit in Denver.  Several of our premier clients will be joining us for a “CEO Roundtable” type forum where we explore together where we’ve been, where we are and where we are likely going in this SBA business of ours.  It is our way of saying thanks and of showing genuine gratitude to the very folks who have helped us launch and sustain a successful SBA consulting business. We think it is also valuable we to bring people together in meaningful conversation about things that matter to us all. It is gratitude that drives many of our most successful ventures and ultimately the glue that binds us in great relationships.

During our Summit, some of the questions we are pondering as a group include:

Future of SBA

  • How has the economic downturn impacted your SBA lending
    business over the past year?
  • Do you think the ARRA (Stimulus Bill) will positively impact SBA lending in the coming year?
  • Let's pretend you have the President's and Congress's "ear" and you would propose one thing relative to SBA that might positively move the needle - what would it be?

SBA Technical Issues

  • What are the issues you are encountering with the new SOP 50 10 5(A)?
  • Have any of the changes impacted your lending approach?

 SBA Guaranty Purchase Process

  • What are the issues you are encountering with Herndon or the CLSC?
  • What has been your experience in getting your guaranties paid?
  • What are your "tips" to making the process more efficient?
  • How are you using "deferment" and "payment modifications" in light of the current economy?

Developing Plans and Goals that Make Sense

  • Characterize your group's overall approach (vision) to this business from this point forward?
  • What are some critical market needs not being addressed that should now be considered?
  • What tools, resources, information, or assistance do you need to be even more effective in this difficult marketplace?

We are pondering these questions and more as we gather together this week over good food, drink and social connections.  We are proud to say we have many clients who are seen as leaders in the SBA lending world and think a gathering such as this will not only benefit them, but also us as we try to become better at what we do.  We hope to make this an annual event of select, PREMIER clients who continue to make a positive impact in the SBA lending community and to whom we can be thankful to for helping us to “up” our game as the premier SBA lending consulting firm in the industry.

We are also grateful to all you weekly readers out there, many of whom we hear from regularly.  We are glad our weekly tips are often helpful and we look forward to the opportunity to work even more closely with you and your team.   Stay tuned for some exciting announcements from

your friends at sbaAccess as we continue to develop services that will help you do more SBA lending in a safe, sound, efficient environment.

Take the right approach.
